Hi, I’m Donni Webber, a writer of my own DIY blog. When Dianne Weller, owner of ChristmasOrnaments.com contacted me to see if I’d be interested in creating some special Christmas ornament DIY projects for her, I was delighted and jumped at the chance to write for this wonderful site that’s full of unique and decorative Christmas Ornaments.  Let’s make some fun and easy personalized glitter ornaments!

They are so pretty and extra special with my children’s names on them and the date, 2012. I also made a set that say ‘Peace’, ‘Love’ and ‘Joy’! Don’t you just love the festive Christmas spirit? I hope you join us in making these personalized glitter ornaments this Christmas!

Personalized Glitter Ornaments

Fun and easy to make personalized glitter ornaments

The supplies we needed:

  • glass ornaments (found online or at Michaels or Joann’s)
  • alphabet stickers ( found online or at Michaels or Joann’s)
  • glitter in assorted colors
  • paper plate
  • glue
  • paint brush
  • needle
  • Christmas ribbon
  • scissors

Time to make : 15 minutes
Time for glitter to dry : 3 hours

Stick the words you want on your ornament onto your glass globe. We wanted the words ‘Peace’, ‘Love’ and ‘Joy’ on one set and the children’s names on another… ‘Teddy 2012′ and ‘Kitty 2012′. Press the letter stickers firmly onto the glass.

Put a mound of glitter onto a paper plate

Remove the little silver clasp top from the ornament. My trick is to stick my finger into the globe opening to hold it… it’s mess free :-)
Use a paint brush to paint glue onto the glass globe, making sure the entire ornament is evenly covered in glue, including the words you have just stuck onto the glass.

Roll the glue-covered ornament in the glitter, making sure the orb is evenly covered in glitter.
Leave to dry for about 3 hours.

When the glitter is completely dry, put your ornament under running water…this will take off the excess glitter.
Rub gently over the word stickers until they are clearly visible and then carefully peel them off the glass. A sharp needle will help get the stickers off cleanly.

Replace the little silver clasp, add a pretty Christmas hanging ribbon and Voila… personalized glitter Christmas Ornaments!

Blessings and magic,
Donni
