Hi, I’m Donni Webber, a writer of my own DIY blog. When Dianne Weller, owner of ChristmasOrnaments.com contacted me to see if I’d be interested in creating some special Christmas ornament DIY projects for her, I was delighted and jumped at the chance to write for this wonderful site that’s full of unique and decorative Christmas Ornaments. Today I want to show you how to make beautiful Dove Christmas ornaments.

Every year, we make a few white doves for our Christmas tree. They look so pretty hanging on our tree and remind us that Christmas is a time of love and peace. And, they are easy and fun to make too. These handmade Dove Christmas Ornaments will really stand out on your tree!

Handmade Dove Christmas Ornaments

The supplies we needed:

  • white card stock (found at your local craft store or at Michaels or Joann’s)
  • white tissue paper (found online or at Michaels or Joann’s)
  • scissors
  • string

Time to make : 5 minutes

Begin by drawing the form of a dove onto your piece of card stock. Ours are about 8 inches big. Cut out your dove and use it as a template to make others

Place your dove cutout on the rest of your card stock paper and trace around the edge of it, so that you can make numerous doves.

Cut them out.

Use sharp scissors to cut a slit, lengthwise, in each dove… this will be the slot for the tissue paper wings.

Make accordian folds along the length of your tissue paper.

Cut the folded tissue paper into 5 inch lengths.

Thread the tissue paper through the silt you cut in your dove.

Pull each end of each wing to fluff it out.

Attach a string for hanging onto your Christmas tree and Voila… you have made a pretty Dove of Peace Ornament!

What fun we are having crafting handmade Dove Christmas ornaments!

Blessings and magic,
